How can you determine a core competency?

Core competency is nothing but how an organization is differentiated from its competitors based on its competency. Hence this can be considered as organization’s strength. With this core competency the organization specializes with a particular activity.

Following can be applied to determine a core competency:

• A core competency must be such that it is capable for the company to develop new products and services and which are accessible in large number of markets.
• The core competency must make contribution to the company’s end product by adding some advantages to the product.
• It must be such that it is not possible for the competitors to adopt. Hence it is necessary for the organization to be unique in its ideas.
