As discussed in the readings, philanthropy exists for many reasons including to make the world better, and also "because things go wrong". Based on the "Operation Smile" video, do you feel this organization was created out of a need to make the world better, or because things go wrong? You must use supporting material from the readings in your discussion post.
Operation smile was made to help people medically. It was a need to start this organisation with a motive to provide excellent health to the people, especially children. Things were also going wrong because of which it felt the need to establish such a society. The situation out there was critical and needed such efforts to bring things correctly. This helped the world to be a better place to live with our healthy and active bodies. Life is uncontrollable. But only through medical and technology has made somewhere possible to cure people. It started operating from the Philippines and success followed then. It also provided free services.
