A team leader is on a bus with his team moving to a work site. He is reviewing plans and diagrams for the upcoming job. One of his workers sits down in the seat behind the team leader and begins to sing along with what he is listening to through his ear buds. THIS IS ANNOYING. IF you were the team leader, which conflict resolution approach of Thomas and Kilmann, would you use to resolve this conflict. Why?
Based on the information in the chapter come up with three rules for the effective use of punishment in organizations.
If I were the team leader I would use a collaborative approach, by using both assertive and cooperative ways to solve the issue for both of us. I would ask the worker to lower down his voice a little because it is bothering me and we have no other option than to travel together, or else even if he wants to hymn the song, he can shift his place so that the journey remains calm for both of us. Both the options can be discussed to reach out to a resolution.
This is something which can be easily resolved just by talking, because there are chances the worker must be doing it unknowingly. So this approach would be best in this situation.
