Yes , it might be possible that mission statement written in very stressed manner . Even , it only shows some part of product /services or half truth about the business. As we know that a good mission tells to the stakholders the reason for the existence of the business , the product or services type and startegic orientation of the organization.  

A company might have generic growth as a strategy but it might fail to offer a sound strategic intent to the stakholders . The success lies on good mission and vision statement rather having growth path at random.
