Answer #1

International Shoe Co. v. Washington, is a landmark case in the judicial history of USA which defines the principle of jurisdiction in the USA. In this case Supreme Court of USA ruled that a party, particularly a corporation, may be subject to the jurisdiction of a state court if it has "minimum contacts" with that state.Supreme Court ruled that apart from territorial jurisdiction, personal jurisdiction can also be exercised by the state so long the defendant has sufficient minimum contacts with the state, from which the complaint arises, such that the exercise of jurisdiction will not offend traditional notions of fair play and substantial justice.
