In this question consumer refers to both clinicians and healthcare consumers who will be using the EHR system. Consumers have access to information on their health records at any time but still feel it hampers information privacy. As described in the textbook, 38% of the respondents claimed that they have used online tools provided by their insurance company to learn about their care. 57% of the respondents have read, heard or seen electronic medical records (EHR). 47% of the respondents said they would prefer a doctor who uses EHRs. 61% of the respondents said they would have a preference for insurance companies who uses EHRs and 61% believe that value of EHR would outweigh the risk associated with it.
