I/O model focus on environmental analysis . The strategy is majorly formulated by external environment. ( about opportyunities exist in the external environment).The firms will develop their internal skills based on the required opportunities.

  • Study the external environment
  • Locate or identify an attractive industry with high returns
  • Identification of strategies called by the attractive industry gto earn their above average returns
  • Develop skill set
  • Strategic implementation

The resource model focus on organisational analysis ( Strenght and weakness)

Each organisation is considered to be ahving unique features and resource capabilities.Finding a right environment where organisation can utilise their asset is most important.The core competenceis include valuabel, rare, costly to imitate etc.
