(6) The ?nal step to putting together the project plan is to assign the resources. Good project management is about the maximizing of resources against the project plan. The effective and efficient use of resources helps ensure a project is on time, within budget, and meets scope. Three strategies/approaches are usually considered when leveling resources.

List and explain each of the three strategies (10 Points).

Resource levelling means the effective utilisation of the available resources of a project which makes the project get completed on time, cost of the project will also be within the budget. Resource levelling can be done using any of the 3 strategies which are

1. utilisation of slack

2.rescheduling the finish date

3. smoothing

1. For every project we have some slack time which is the possible time for delay which can be tolerated. We can use this time to push some activities to that so that the resources can be used as per plan . This helps in levelling the resources .

2. We can push off the finish date so that the time gets increased and work gets done in a calm manner which helps in effective utilisation of the available resources which helps in resource levelling.

3. Smoothing is setting limits for the utilisation of resources at every step of the project and this makes us to utilise only resources planned for that step. This helps us in levelling the reosurces which we already planned and segregated as per the requirement.
