Data infrastructure for health IT are basically EHR - Electronic Health Records

Electronic health records are basically a digital version of the hospital filing system , EHR stores all the basic information about the patient visiting the hospital , they can be updated in real time . EHR helps in Interoperability between all the sectors of the hospital such as the doctors , nursing station , labs , pharmacy , billing .

EHR is mainly useful to share the patient information across various Health Care Facilities , Authorized personnel from these health care facilities can access these information and update the patients chart from time to time.
