C. Retrenchment

Like in pruning roses, dead seeds, bushes, plants etc are cut out to invite new growth, in business retrenchment strategy just does the same. Retrenchment strategy is a two step process. First step includes cutting down the costs by terminating operations or cutting down the scope of operations and the second step is recuperating to become a financially stable business which is very similar to the process of pruning roses.
