Answer #1

Direct competitors are those companies that offer the same type of products and services and hence are targeting the same group of customers and buyers. Jeep Company Australia makes and sells sports utility vehicles (SUVs) that are famous for their off-roading capabilities. The SUV being made and sold are rugged and can be driven comfortably in different terrains.

The two direct competitors that I have identified are Ford (through its FX4 special edition) and Nissan (through its Patril Ti).

Points of difference The Ford SUV comes in a 3.2 litre diesel engine, the Jeep Wrangler comes in a 3.6 litre V6 engine while the Nissan Patrol Ti comes in a 5.6 litre V8 engine. Thus the engine power is different for all the three vehicles. Secondly all these three vehicles have different price points and so are targted at different income groups
Points of parity All the three vehicles are capable 4*4 off roaders and can take on any terrain. The vehicles have ample ground clearance and have features like water wading and towing

Indirect competitors are those companies that offer slightly different products and services but target the same set of customers. The customers here are those buyers who are looking to buy modes of transport that can be driven in any terrain and that will provide them with a sense of adventure. The indirect competitor for Jeep Company Australia is Polaris Australia. Polaris makes and sells ATVs i.e. all terrain vehicles.

Points of difference The Polaris ATV vehicles are not meant for long rides, unlike the Jeep vehicles. Secondly Polaris ATV vehicles are more suitable when there is a need to be nimble. The Jeep vehicles are not suitable for situations that require quick hopping.
Points of parity Both these companies manufacture vehicles that can be driven with ease in terrains that are muddy, rocky, etc
