There are various industries that demonstrated increasing returns to adoptions are as follows:

1. Instant messaging over SMS (Shot messaging service),
2. Cloud storage over hard drive,

All these demonstrated increasing rate of adoption. For example, instant messaging is now-a-days is almost free in comparison to SMS services and carry strong network externalities but even with this people still use SMS as a good way to interact.

            Similar to this, cloud storage provide anytime access of data over internet and is secure and corruption free storage of data, even with this the hard drive are commonly used for storing the data over cloud storage. Some cite reasons such as fear or lack of trust over the service provider for storing the personal and confidential data, others may cite the dependence of access speed on the speed of internet as a major reason for the same.
