Pros of g ay marriage

a. If a couple plans on having or raising children then the status as a couple greatly affects the rights regarding their children. In marriage, both partners have the same rights and responsibilities. In a divorce, both partners can seek custody and visitation rights like any married couple.

b. the marriage generally creates a presumption of joint ownership of property accrued during the marriage.

c. the married couples lots of governmental benefits include Social Security benefits, health care benefits, nursing home care, and unpaid leave from your job to care for family members.

d. the married same-sex couples did not have this access to citizenship under the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), however, now same-sex and opposite-sex unions are equally protected under federal law and we all know that legal marriage is the most reliable way to become a citizen in the U.S.

Cons of g ay marriage

a. the children need both mother and father to grow up.

b. it gives other nontraditional relationships the right to marry.

c. the bad effects on the status of marriage's joint property is that if the couple divorce, regardless of who is at fault, both partners are often entitled to half of the property accumulated during the marriage.

d. its totally against the institution of marriage which has traditionally been defined as being between a man and a woman.

I am totally not against the court's decision because in my opinion, the court did not decide the matter traditionally, the court decided the matter ethically. This minority was suffering from discrimination, minority sexual identity and the researchers also said that this minority living in a state where same-sex marriage is not allowed or against the law, will lead to social stress and mental health problems. And we also observed that this minority is facing bullying and discrimination everywhere and no matter how but this needs to be stopped because every person has a right to marry and to choose whom he or she marries. I am with the court decision.
