A hairdresser who has a small shop went to the chamber of Commerce to get a businessman's ID. The officials of the Chamber refused to give him an ID because they told him he is not a businessman. the hairdresser replied that he has a couple of branches and a manager.
explain according to the Iraqi Commercial Law which side is right and why the chamber said that he is not a businessman and the hairdresser said he has a couple of branches.
According to the Iraqi Commercial Law, the hairdresser needs to reserve a unique company name at the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce. If the chosen company name is available at the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, the applicant receives a letter confirming that the name is available. Then, the applicant needs to go to the Federal Chamber of Commerce with that letter in order to do another name search at the federal level. It is not possible to do the search at the Federal Chamber of Commerce without having a letter from the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce. After that, the business needs to draft the articles of association and register the company.
