Many college assignments require students to use scholarly sources. Scholarly sources are written by experts for a knowledgeable audience and often are more in-depth than books and articles for a general audience. Discuss some of criteria you would use to determine if a source is scholarly.

How to decide if a source is scholarly or not:

It can be decided in the following ways:

• A scholarly source will provide complete details of its author. The details of experts in that particular field with their credentials will be available.
• Information about the sources i.e. bibliography of the cited sources will be contained in the research document.
• The publication criteria for a scholarly source are it is always published only after being reviewed or referred by the peer.
• The scholarly source follows a proper format in structure like abstract, methodology, results, conclusion, bibliography etc.
• The purpose of any scholarly journal is to make the original research available to the entire world without any duplications or modifications.
• The appearance of the article will be the same with minimal advertising, little or no colors, graphics used to support the text etc.
