Define orientation. Why is it considered important for new employees?

Orientation is the first stage post the hiring process and introductory phase of the new joiners to give a brief orientation about the organization, their respective job roles and what they can expect from the organization. It is important for new employees as concise and accurate information are provided to them to make them comfortable about their jobs, to encourage new employees’ confidence and help them adapt faster, makes them more effective and productive and establish a communication with respective supervisors.
