In this essay assignment, you will need to a) summarize the communication strategy of a leader your chosen organization, b) analyze the communication strategy of your leader in the chosen organization

First, summarize the Communication Strategy. Discuss which communication methods are employed by the leader to communicate with stakeholders?

Then, locate a peer-reviewed article that discusses the communication strategies used by your chosen organizational leader. Discuss the relevance of the strategy based on research.

Finally, analyze the communication strategy. Discuss whether the current method is effective and make suggestions for improvement. Discuss any problems (or potential problems) with the communications in your chosen organization, and provide potential solutions based on your research. Include ways that effective management could help to provide a solution.

EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNICATION STRATEGY

IN today's business era, Communication has become imperative. Every Leader spends 70 to 90% of their communicating with their teams and others at work place. Perfect and precise communication is of vital importance. It is the Leader's communication skill's that motivate and inspire teams to work hard and achieve organisational goals. Effective and accurate communication acts as an advantage for a leader to lead effectively. To achieve professional success, Leaders must be effective and convincing communicators.

Leadership communication has three major aspects - Core, managerial and Corporate. Core communication involves approach, writing and speaking and this is at an individual level. Expressive cultural understandings, listening patiently, team management, mentoring are managerial aspects of communication.

The Corporate communication aspects are skills required at a much higher levels of leadership. Interaction with internal and external sphere takes place at this level. Maintaining employee relations, communication during change and crisis, interacting with media association and image building.  

Leadership styles have a lot to do in terms of impacting motivation of the employees and also empowering them. Listening, teaching, coaching, directing, advising, motivating, honest, empathy are principles of leadership communication.

Indra Nooyi, CEO of Pepsi-Co, believes and follows the principle of Don't pretend it's Ok if it's not

During the challenging times the company was facing, she upheld the principle of telling the truth or in other words to be honest with your employees. She said in an interview with CNBC that one thing she has learnt is not to lie to the people - "Don't tell your people one thing when the reality is something different."

Fortune describes Nooyi leading her team of executives to retail outlets and restaurants, pointing out and photographing the errors/mistakes committed so that it could be forwarded to the person who had done the mistake. Flawless is the ultimate goal and to this she would push the boundaries to get to flawless executiion. This forthrightness was a huge factor in Nooy;s success. The moral of the story is Say what you mean, be true to your word, and follow your conscience. Nooyi portrayed to be fearless leader. Further, her fearless leadership communication style exhibits that being honest to a fault may not be a fault at all. She believed that if you can get people follow you to the ends of the earth then you are a great leader.

Here we also see a culture of collaboration and understanding in the workplace brought about through efffective Leadership communication. The Leader was equipped with the 5C model of leadership - Competence, Courage and Confidence, Communication, Consistency and Compass. Three notable qualities of the Leader are communication, relationship building and Moral compass.

Focusing on the vision of the company, with a long term objective/goals set, the company has been successful due to the proven Leadership through communication by persuasion, listening and learning. By painting a picture through effective communication to the company's stakeholders and employees tp make any change that will help the organsation in achieving success. This type of leadership communication will help management in any organisation to reaching milestones.
