Performance appraisal is also known as Performance Evaluation is a process which evaluates the performance of employees. Performance is measured regarding the result. It facilitates the promotion & downsizing decision, helps to provide feedback to the employee, helps to motivate them, determining the compensation system, and assessing the need of training & development. Performance appraisal process plays a major role in shaping an organization's culture & employees' behavior. Performance appraisal is an important tool, because it guides the employer about their working style. It shows employees about their performance, if they are doing good then they are rewarded, or else punished. Performance appraisal process is a systematic method that plays a vital role in employees' working life. Performance appraisal report shows result to employees weekly or monthly performance.
Motivation is defined as an inner urge or willingness of an individual to perform a certain task. It acts as a catalyst which directs, shapes, guides, and molds the behavior of an individual. Motivation is a driving force within an individual that propels him to do any action. Motivation plays a key role in developing the emotional connection in employees for contributing in an organizational development & self development process. It is only due to motivation that it turns an individual's thoughts into action. Motivation shapes the individuals' thinking into reality by encouraging & forcing him to perform extraordinarily. Motivation plays a major role in bringing transition from following current working strategy to adapting new implemented strategy in the organization.

Instead of getting stressed, he welcomes the result as a chance for further growth, which is only due to the motivational culture of an organization. Motivation generates job satisfaction for employees. It helps them to perform efficiently & efficiently with a clear view towards the achievement of both personal & organizational goals. Motivation definitely encourages employees to contribute more than their designed role in the development of the organization. Motivation helps to enhance the performance of employees by encouraging them to contribute more than normal. Motivation instigates employees to work hard to achieve more, and support organizational & personal goals. Motivation plays a major role in the overall performance appraisal process, resulting in increasing the performance of employees by enhancing transparency in the system, motivating them to take a potential challenge, taking responsibility, and developing innovative solutions. Motivation plays a major role in bringing success & reducing employee turnover. Many theorists prove that motivation plays a major part in bringing success to the firm, as well as to retain the employee by encouraging them to work hard for the welfare of the company, as well as for their personal goals. Motivation helps to boost the morale of employees & encourage them to utilize the performance appraisal process as a guiding tool. Motivation helps employees to perform well to earn rewards. Motivation shapes general behavior into goal-oriented behavior & helps them to yield a positive result. Motivation level influences the performance of employees. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the organization to motivate its employees, because it bridges the gap between the ability to work & willingness to work. If an employee is positively motivated then he will perform extraordinarily to achieve his goals. Motivation in the performance appraisal process helps to build confidence in employees & gaining their loyalty to the organization resulted in reducing absenteeism & maintaining a stable workforce. Thus, motivation in the performance appraisal process is like icing on the cake. Without motivation, the performance appraisal process just remains like a process, but motivation makes it an effective & positive process which results in enhancing & increasing the productivity & performance of the organization & its employees.
