Starbucks eventually experienced decline in the mid of 2000s as the company degraded its appeal and uniqueness. Please explain, what is the main focus for Starbucks during that time and how it lost its appeal and uniqueness?
Starbucks started out as a very customer-centric company that offered great service value to customers with its coffee which tasted great. However, during the mid-2000s, the company started to lose its focus by deviating from its core coffee business to other ventures such as launching its own music recording company, producing movies, and even opened a separate office in Los Angeles for its entertainment business venture. The company went on a massive expansion spree by opening up new stores all across the US in an attempt at superficial growth without enhancing the overall customer experience. Eventually, the company lost its focus on the factor that drove their core coffee business which was serving good coffee with great customer experience. All these led to the downfall of Starbucks in the mid-2000s and it lost its appeal and uniqueness.
