Japanese had been preparing for the war since 1936. The new they were going to face great countries such as Britain and America.
During their attack in pearl harbor, they were brought their well-trained navy which ambushed the pearl harbor before anyone could notice. Their army was well trained, experienced, equipped and fast as compared to the opponents. Apart from this, Japan promised freedom to various independence movements in Asia such as in Burma, Malay and Philippines.
