  1. The California law offers additional protection from employment discrimination. Federal law dictates it illegal to discriminate based on race, color, nation, origin, religion, sex, disability, age, citizenship status and genetic information. In addition to these California State law also prohibits discrimination on marital status, sexual orientation, diseases such as HIV AIDS, medical conditions, political activities, military/veteran, and domestic violence.
  2. Federal law prohibits decimation in a number of areas including recruiting, hiring, job, evaluation, promotion, training and compensation. State law often extends protection to additional categories or employers.
