Characteristics of an effective control system:

• Accuracy- it must generate accurate data and information for effective managerial decisions
• Timeliness- many problems that require priority attention to avoid any damages, so timeliness of data is critical
• Integration- must integrate with other operational processes to perform efficiently
• Economic feasibility- should be cost effective in servicing as well
• Corrective action- would be good if can check and identify for deviations and suggest solutions

If someone denies the support services required, then better should look for a contingency option. This option may cost higher or may not be that effective, or it can prove to be better than first one in many ways. Hence, searching and having an alternative is very important. Else last option could be to discard the product and buy a new one.
