Whats leadership and how does one determine if a leader has been effective?

Leadership is a set of attributes that make a person role model for his /her followers who value his /her ideas, respect his /her views, are impressed by personality attributes and follow him/her in his /her endeavour, associating themselves with his /her ideilogies and way of thinking.These attributed include vision, ability to communicate and analyse the situations, empathy, ability to resolve conflicts, interpersonal skills, team building skills, ability to lead from the front and take ownership of the tasks he /she undertakes, among others.

The measure of effectiveness of a leader is the staunchness of his /her followers, their numbers and years of association with the leader, number of people defecting him per unit time Vs. new additions in following, accomplishments with help of team strength, uprightness and integrity exhibited through conduct, level of respect one commands in social media and traditional circles and rivals' opinion of him /her.

A good leader is known to have a clean image, huge following, ability to stay from controversies and objectionable conduct, ability to think and act from the other person's perspective and demonstration of leadership skills when it matters the most.
