A job analysis is done to gather information about a job that would enable the human resource management team to select the perfect candidates for the job in the future. Job analysis helps in collecting data related to a particular field and the responsibility of the analyst is to sort through the data and find out the required skills that are needed by a potential candidate to be a good fit for the job.
One of the methods to conduct job analysis is through a questionnaire. This method helps to reach a larger audience as face to face interviews with all the people working at the organisation can be very time-consuming. A variety of information can be asked through a questionnaire that would enable a job analyst to filter out the important data related to a job. This method is especially useful for a large company with a hierarchical structure where there are different departments and a number of people employed at each department.
One of the drawbacks of this method is that employees need to be motivated to fill the questionnaire without any personal biases. It is difficult for the analyst to know if a person has filled in the details in the form keeping in mind some personal biases if they do not meet the employees face to face. Thus employees must be told to fill the forms with utmost ethical standards and that the analysis of the data would, in turn, help them.
