Diversity can be described as differences in the people based on age, gender, race, religion, background, sexual orientation and status etc.

Multiculturalism can be described as differences in the people focusing on respect, understanding, inclusiveness and unequal power of society.

Some trends in multiculturalism are as follows:

  • There is constant growth in minority workforce. Individuals from different part of the world have created multicultural organizations. The people with different viewpoints come up in the brainstorming process and represent their ideas.
  • There is growth of female employees as a workforce in the organzation. There is almost half of the applicants are females in every department of the organization.

Diversity is increasing because of the following reasons:

  • In order to better understand your customers, diversity is required. Diverse teams solves problems faster and hence perform better than the non-diverse teams.
  • When people come with different experiences, skills and backgrounds, it promotes creativity and innovation at workplace.
  • It helps in boosting brand of the company and helps in retaining talent.
