Traditionally, human resource management practices were developed and administered by the company's human resource department. Line managers are now playing a major part on developing and implementing HRM practices. What do you think non-HR managers are becoming more involved?
With the greater identification and recognition of the relationship which exists between the different HRM practices and the performance and efficiency of the manpower, there are greater reasons for the line managers to have greater involvement in the development and execution of HR practices. In order to frame the required and vital HR policies, the direct information received from the line managers becomes quite vital and this will help in enforcing he organizational and strategic requirements of the organization. For example, if the main focus of the organization in on quality improvement, then it is vital for the HR department to come up with the incentives or compensation plans which are directed towards rewarding the quality improvement in place of focusing on the production volume.
