Essential questions are commonly used in the workplace in order to find solutions to an important dilemma or challenge. These types of questions are often not answerable through a brief sentence or via one idea. Instead, these types of questions require critical thinking and inquiry. In the process of finding answers and/or solutions to these questions, career professionals often uncover the depth and complexity of the topic under consideration.

To assist you further, here are two examples. The first example is not an essential question, since it is easily answerable. The second example is an essential question, since it requires critical thinking and inquiry.
