To answer the given question, Let's discuss about the recent event which is happening around every corner of the world i.e the COVID 19 outbreak. In the informative speech we would be discussing about knowing exactly what coronavirus is, it's clinical presentation, high risk populations, how corona virus is transmitted, how we can prevent it's transmission and it's diagnostic procedures.
1. What is Coronavirus ?
It belongs to the family of viruses which cause illness in humans such as the respiratory problems or gastrointestinal diseases. It's basically the crown shaped as it comes from the latin word " Corona" which means crown.
Let's now go to it's history. Basically it originated from a lab in "Wuhan" which is a state in china. It adversely affected the people in china and then it eventually spread around the corner of the world. Till date researchers are trying hard to develop it's vaccine and in some countries the trials have been successful. A very large number of cases are being reported each day and deaths also can be seen in large numbers.
2. Clinical Presentation of the Virus.
Typically, coronavirus has presented respiratory symptoms in the individuals along with other symptoms. There are also majority of people with no symptoms but when tested for covid 19 they are found positive. Such people acts as carriers and affects other people which come into their contact.
In majority of the corona virus cases, the symptoms are flu like. They includes,
* Respiratory symptoms.
* Fever
* Cough
* Shortness of Breath
* Sore throat.
Some minority of the people would have some severe symptoms and require hospitalisation. These symptoms include : Much difficulty in breathing and persistant pain in chest etc.
3. High Risk Population :
Generally, this virus is harmful for all age groups but the people aged over 60 are at a higher risk of being affected because of very low immunity. People which have some previous disease history are adversely affected. These diseases includes
Chronic liver diseases
Respiratory illness like asthma, tuberculosis etc
Heart problems
Hypertension etc.
These people require immediate hospitalisation so that the disease can be controlled.
If we look at the figures then almost 95 percent of the deaths reported are of the ones who have some disease or have a very poor immune system.
4. How Corona virus is transmitted ?
In very simpler terms it can be understood that covid spreads from human to human transmission. The virus is present in the lungs of an affected person and when that affected person sneezes, coughs etc the virus comes in the droplets. when any other normal person comes in direct or either indirect contact with these aerosols particles then he or she also gets affected. It basically creates the chain of transmission which if happens is called as community spread of the disease.
Let's now understand that how we can stay safe from this virus.
5. Prevention and Cure from Covid 19.
It's rightly said that safety is better than cure. Hence, let's now discuss some precautionary measures to stay safe from this virus. you should :
* Wash your hands frequently with soap for atleast 20 seconds.
* Sanitise your hands with the help of only alcohol based sanitiser.
