Global companies such as Google and Hitachi have rolled out mandatory work-from-home policies amid the spread of Covid-19. Companies will likely continue remote working policies for employees even after the pandemic subsides. However, not every worker will want to work from home. How far do you agree with this opinion? Write a persuasive argument to the relevant party to convince them about your stand. Your argument should clearly identify the issue, provide credible reasons, and have a convincing conclusion.

I agree with the opinion that every worker or employee might not be okay with working from home after the pandemic subsides as I believe that Work from home also comes with lots of challenges which might result in employee not being able to balance properly between work ethic and personal responsibilities. As an employee I will not like my HR manager to impose a mandatory remote working policies on me because it might not be appropriate for me and many other employees as there would be an unreasonable pressure of attending to both the work and personal duties at the same time which could prove extremely tiring or distractive for the work performance and may also result in decrease in productivity.

I will support my argument with the facts highlighted by research scholars and advocates who believe that it is necessary to ensure that there is a proper demarcation between the professional life and personal life as the mingling of two will create chaos and confusion to an individual who might struggle to choose one over other at certain times therefore should represent the two separate facets of life of a human being. Therefore I am in congruence with the fact that it is essential for an individual to focus and concentrate on one part of life at a certain time to avoid lack of diligence in each area of life. Therefore mandatory work from home policy will disrupt and disturb thr priorities of an employee at a given time as both will be carried at the same time which will drastically affect the workflow and degree of focus towards work.

The disadvantage of work from home is that an individual will have to play the role of both employee as well as a husband, a wife, a daughter, a mother etc at the same time which might frustrate and divert him or her from the goals and motives. Moreover those employees who have small kids, live in joint families, or have disturbed relationships with their parents or partners might find the workstation time the best to go away. Thus such people would be also able to better concentrate at workplace. Therefore such employees might feel cognitive dissonance at home where they would be close to both important parts of their lives resulting in stress, overload and pressure.

Another most important factor is the lack of support and assistance from supervisors or management which the employees would have otherwise received at workplace. The employees will no longer receive any guidance, mentoring or support from their managers, immediate supervisors and trainers, lacking which employees might not be able to achieve the deadlines or targets and goals set for them. The negative aspects of work from home might not in my result in decrease in productivity and performance but will also result in disqualifying many employees from. Incentives, bonuses, perks etc due to their unsatisfied performance.The final outcome will be lack of motivation of employees to work properly.
