Marketing debate: Take a Position on, Business-to-business marketing requires a special, unique set of marketing concepts and principles VERSUS Business-to-business marketing is really not that different, and the basic marketing concepts and principles apply
I agree with the statement that business to business (B2B) marketing requires marketing concepts that are customized and non-generic in nature. A business requirement is different from that of the end consumer requirements. It makes a difference in the pricing strategy, approach to need creation among the business creation as well as the customization of the offerings to the business consumer. Further, the nature of product demanded by the business is intermediate or industrial in nature. But, end-consumer demands a product that is ready for the consumption. So, one standard concept cannot be applied to the both groups of consumers. Hence, A B2B marketer requires specific and customized marketing skills. It can be personal selling, direct marketing channel or persuasive marketing skills with customized pricing strategy that can be more successful when dealing with the B2B marketing.
