MASLOW NEED HIERARCHY THEORY WAS PROPOSED BY ABRAHAM MASLOW IN 1943. HE GAVE HIERARCHY OF 5 HUMAN NEEDS WHICH IF NOT FULFILLED WILL GIVE RISE TO ANXIETY OR TENSION AND THE FULFILLMENT OF EACH NEED MOTIVATES THE INDIVIDUAL TO MOVE TO ANOTHER LEVEL NEED. THE 5 LEVELS ARE PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS, SAFETY NEEDS, BELONGINGNESS NEEDS, ESTEEM NEEDS, AND SELF FULFILLMENT NEEDS. THESE NEEDS ARE APART OF OUR EVERYDAY LIFE. DIFFERENT PRODUCTS ARE RELATED TO DIFFERENT NEEDS. PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS DEALS WITH THE BASIC NECESSITIES REQUIRED FOR SURVIVAL. THE PRODUCTS WHICH FULFILL THESE NEEDS ARE FOOD, CLOTHING, AND SHELTER. SO ALL THE FOOD OUTLETS, CLOTHING SHOPS FULFILL THIS NEED OF AN INDIVIDUAL. SECOND NEED IS SAFETY NEED WHICH INCLUDES FINANCIAL AS WELL AS SOCIAL SECURITY. THE PRODUCTS RELATED TO THESE NEEDS ARE THOSE WHICH PROVIDES PROTECTION TO THE INDIVIDUAL LIKE A CAR WHICH WILL PROTECT HIM FROM ACCIDENTS OR INSURANCE COVER WHICH WOULD PROVIDE HIM FINANCIAL SECURITY. FULFILLMENT OF SECURITY NEED WILL MOTIVATE HIM TO MOVE TO LOVE/BELONGINGNESS NEEDS. BELONGINGNESS NEEDS INCLUDES INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS. THE PRODUCTS THAT WILL HELP TO MAINTAIN THE RELATIONSHIPS OR COMMUNICATIONS WILL FULFILL THIS NEED LIKE SOCIAL MEDIA SITES, TELEPHONES, EMAILS ETC. AFTER THIS NEXT LEVEL OF NEED IS ESTEEM NEEDS. THESE NEEDS RELATE TO NEED OF RECOGNITION, ATTENTION, STRENGTH, STATUS ETC. THESE NEEDS ARE FULFILLED BY LUXURY ITEMS CARS OR WATCHES WHICH PEOPLE BUY BECAUSE OF THEIR STATUS OR THE SOFTWARES WHICH PROVIDE SKILLS SO THAT THEY CAN BE RECOGNISED. THE LAST LEVEL OF NEED IS SELF-FULFILLMENT NEEDS. THIS NEED IS THE REALIZATION OF THE DESIRES TO ACCOMPLISH EVERYTHING IN LIFE. THE PRODUCTS APPEAL CUSTOMERS BY DEPICTING HOW THEY CAN ACHIEVE ACTUALIZATION BY USE OF PRODUCT LIKE PHYSICAL SELF-ACTUALIZATION CAN BE ACHIEVED BY GOOD PROTEINS, GYM PRODUCTS ETC.
