Improvement and opportunities:

It could provide several improvements and Opportunities, these are as stated below:

  • It could provide necessary alerts as needed in medical conditions and we could improve awareness about the data, health information and knowledge. Here, we could also get critical reminder as per need.
  • Patient information could be analyzed and we could performance communication more effectively.
  • We could easily record patient’s condition and we could track over time, keep such historical data for future reference.
  • We will be able to support medical and diagnostic decision making and we could take decision based on results or evidence.
  • Further, we could promote research and we could gather huge data that can be further analyzed to get useful information.
  • It eases the job of medical staffs and other practitioners, so, they could manage patient’s issues and activities so effectively.

There are several barriers and difficulties as encountered during the transition, these are like cost of implementation of the HER system, organization could face resistance to change, there could be issues with technical support and various technical concerns could make this project failure.

HIM role is impacted by various factors like improvement and opportunities as driven by EHR, barriers and difficulties encountered during transition of EHR, HIM has role to protect health care data and information, maintain privacy and security in Health data sharing. Hence, health records are to be kept in a way that should be visible to particular stakeholders, it should create user friendly approach to the necessary stakeholder. HIM will take role to control all such situations and ensure that health records are kept in correct order and in confidential mode.
