Fear of public speaking
Fear of public speaking is one of the prominent fear that people have. Communicating ideas to an audience are very much needed in many different spheres of life. It helps a person in his or her career, business, or daily life. Fear is normally the element that creates a roadblock in public speaking. Lack of trust in his or her own ability is the biggest reason behind the fear of public speaking. Many people think that delivering a public speech may erode their credibility. Sometimes a person may overly think about the judgment of the audience about the appearance of the speaker and the content of the speech. Past failures also may promote fear in a person in the times of public speaking. The situation may sometimes create fear of public speaking. The unfamiliar audiences normally may create fear in some persons during public speaking. The fear of public speaking is not a fear in the real sense, it has more similarity with anxiety than fear.
The fear of public speaking can be overcome mainly through thorough preparation, for that purpose a person must have better knowledge on the topic for public speaking. Knowledge about the topic will make the speaker more confident and credible. Arranging all the supporting tools required for public speaking including the microphone, visual aids, etc. Taking much practice is also a way to overcome challenges connected with public speaking. Visualizing that a person has successfully completed his speech prior to the speech is also a good technique in this regard. Taking a deep breath before a public speech will be helpful to relax easily and reduce fear. Practicing public speaking within a supportive group is also a better idea in this regard.
