Individualism is a concept where one person focuses on themselves and their family. It's about individual uniqueness for self-determination that is being valued.

Collectivism is where one person's trust is on his members or group people than themselves.

Let us go through Locke's theory of individualism, where the concept of individual appears on the face. According to this theory, the independent entity is about an individual as the creator grants life. All individuals have equal right that no one can take it from others. Individualism theory has three characteristics: the individual's concept, the idea of defining a person free from the other, but not against society, and equality of individual.

A person who wants to support itself financially and don't want to depend on others for their needs and wants is an example of individualism.

Collectivism is a concept of motivation by group goals. The theory of collectivism talks about individual sacrifices to fulfill personal needs and instead of taking care of the entire group. For example, a father in a family always looks for family needs rather than thinking about their own needs. The father sacrifices his desires.
