Your process exhibits the following capabilities; Cp upper = 1.67 Cp lower = 0.48 What proportion of product will not meet specifications in this process?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Cp lower = Mean -LSL / 3*SD and Cp upper = USL- Mean /3*SD

0.48 = Mean - LSL / 3*SD

0.48*3 = Mean - LSL / SD =1.44

Fraction of components below LSL corresponmds to z = = -1.44

which corresponds to a probability of 0.07493

1.67 = USL-Mean / 3*SD

or Fraction of items below USL will be

z = USL-Mean / SD = 1.67*3 = 5.01

Which corresponds to almost 100% of items, therefore practically there will be no items above USL.

Total number of fractions out of range =0.07493 = 7.493%
