Q: a. Differentiate between work team and work group and Explain how organisations can create team players.

A: A work team is a team that comprises members who work together and are dependent on each other to achieve a common, specific goal to produce an end result for their business. In work teams, members are equal and participate democratically in ideas and decision making and the team leader acts as a facilitator.

A work group is a group of two or more members who come together to achieve a specific, common goal of an organisation but who are not necessarily working in the same department or business unit. In work groups, the group leader decides on allocation of work assignments to members, controls the group members, and leads the team meetings.

Organisations can create team players by fostering supportive environments, the management leads by example, the management empowers team players and shows appreciation for responsibility, innovation, and intitiative taken by team players, encourage and support team players to cooperate and coordinate their work projects, and provide opportunities and space for the growth and development of team players.
