An emotional bias refers to the distortion in the decision making abilities and cognition affecting how you make the decision in various situation because of the inclination towards the emotional factors.

Fact based decision: This type of decision making is a systematic process where the decision is made taking the right data, quality of thr data and taking the right analysis and insights to make the most accurate decision. For example, a marketing manager would rely on the consumer and market data to determine how the sales and advertisement process went and further decision making would rely on that data. It this decision making, emotional bias has a very low or no affect as the decision is solely based on the facts and information available.

Value based decision: This is the decision making process where the critical decisions are made in an informal and timely manner. Value and the qualitative opinion are taken the most to determine the best decision. For example, you consider the importance of women in your organisation is not given as it should be. Thus, making a decision where you are making the women to be a part of decision making and taking the initiative to include them are value based decision where the emotional bias has an important role to play and inclined your decision because you consider the value of giving importance to women as important as giving value to men.

Policy based decision making: This type of decisions are made considering the importance and the values being played by the policies in the organisation. These policies are made by the government or the organisation itseld influencing the decisions taken. For example, if the organisation is having a policy to promote diversity at the highest, the decisions made in the team or within the organisational working structure would be less gender or age biased and more diversified because it is stated clearly in the policy. The same policy is made because of the emotional bias and thus we can say in this type of decision making, the emotional bias has a moderate role to play as both the stated information in the policy and emotional attachment are considered to make the diversity into action.
