When Nii Kpakpo got to the Ministry of Information in the United States of Accra, he observed that managers were not playing their roles. For instance, workers prefer to come to work late and leave early to their homes to avoid traffic on the road after 5pm. Using the case of any organization, examine some behaviours expected of these managers in order to curb this situation and enhance performance .
Such behaviors of managers and employees can be improved through rigorous attention and training interventions. A good organization may strictly prohibits such attitude towards duties and job roles assigned to various positions. Such employees may be given separate attention or nearby office or field work so that their less productive late coming and early departure from office may be corrected and addressed properly.
As a manager to handle such employees, i used to take following steps:
1) If, possible they will be assigned work in field or nearby office locations will be assigned to them for completing sales, communication and marketing activities.
2) Each employees will be asked to submit their home proximity from the office location. An interval survey will be done to know the traffic related concerns in the city . Then , accordingly, there will be work assigned to the people .
4) Such early office leaving candidates must be given some additional work to be completed through virtual office or work from home.
5) There will be a code of ethics which will remind the workers their duties and responsibilities from time to time.
6) Such employees may be given additional pay so that they can work properly even forgetting their personal comfort , luxury etc.
