In 2018, we witnessed the explosion of the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica Data Scandal, when it was revealed that the British Company Cambridge Analytica had obtained the personal data of up to 87 million Facebook users without their consent and used it allegedly for political advertising purposes. Read the overview of the scandal and answer the following questions:

1. Do you agree that the current consumer protection laws are designed to protect us from abuse of our personal data by the tech companies?
2. What suggestion do you have on how to tighten the regulations of technology companies’ use of personal data?

As the breach of personal data is one of the common offence that has been increasingly growing now a days with the increasing use of technology and the tech companies are the foremost one who are responsible for the breach of data. Inspite of any law and protection bills and regulation that has been especially designed in order to protect the consumer data from being assessed without the permission but the tech company atre repeatedly increasing its access to the protected data in order to be used with their highly advanced technology.

The following are some of the ways to tighten the regulations of technology companies' use of personal data and information-

a- Strict imposition of fine and penalty in case of voilating any of the protection law meant for the safety of the individual personal data.

b- Assessing an individual person data by these technological companies need to be considered as serious offense in order to stop or limit such activities made on their behalf.

c- New rules need to be imposed in order to seek permission before assessing someone's data.

d- The data of the individual while getting assessed verify their identity.
