Employee engagement and job satisfaction are two major job attitudes where employee engagement means how much a employee feels engaged and enthusiastic about thier work and job satisfaction means employee's feeling of satisfaction for thier job in an organization.

The causes of negative attitude in an organizational context could be different for different employees. There are some common and major causes which lead to negative attitudes in employees are - first feeling of being unappreciated. Every employee likes to get recognition, respec and appreciated for thier efforts in thier job. When an employee did not get appreciation for thier efforts then they tend to have bad attitude towards thier job, management and organization as whole. Second is Poor relationship. Employees work in organization with many other people like manager, peers,co workers etc. If an employee start to have bad relationship with some or all of them then bad attitude is started to foster. For example- you said Hi to your co worker but he ignored you all the time or hear bad things said behind your back at lunch time at workplace etc. Third cause is biasedness and discriminatio. This is one of the cause which employees does not like at all. for example- manager promoted a co worker of yours because manager is biased towards him even if you are qualified for promotion. or you get scolded by superior all the time for mistakes at work but favorite employee of manager does not get any scold from senior because of favoristism.

Personality plays very important role in shaping them because personality of an employee about feeling of like of dislike so if employee have negative personality towards their job or other people at work then they will always have bad attitudes in the organization. Bad personality means not liking you job, people around your work, feel burnout etc.The Effects of negative attitude affect other people and organization as whole. When employees show negative attitude then performance of organization declines, organizational's goals are not achieved, workplace culture started to become negative and deterimental to others.

For example- A very important project come to an organization in which a group of employees were assigned to do the project. In the group, there were two employees with negative attitude who does not follow group norms, do not work along with others, not report to management and not complete thier roles effectively because of thier bad personality. This affect whole group and project leads to failure. The project failure cost the company huge amount and ruin image of the organization as well.

Negative attitudes leads to hinderance in employee performance, creativity, poor relationship with management and increases employee turnover because employees tend to leave such organization where employees are negative to others, workplace culture is ruined because of bad attitudes of employees.

for example- An organization have employees who abuse others, spread bad rumors about others and management does not take fair action then employees either dislike thier job or leave the organization.

The actions that managers should undertake to increase the occurrence of employee positive job attitudes and help turn negative attitudes into positive ones are first they should be fair, respectful and treat every one equally. Managers should not be biased with their employees. When employees see that thier manager are being fair and treating everyone equally then employee attitude will be positive. Second, Managers should lead by example. It means that manager should not show and act negatively like come office on time, do thier job what they suppose to do so that employees will see their manager and learn from thier action. Third manager should use motivational reinforcement like reward, incentives, bonuses to behavior that are worthy of them like achievemnt of targets, perform exceptionally then manager recognize and praise such employees in front of others. Manager also take disciplinary action like punishment to those employees who show bad behavior so that such negative behavior with punishment will not happen again and turn into positive ones.
