Strategic alliance is defined as agreement between two or more parties to pursue predetermined objectives while being independent organisation.

Its different from contracts and supplier buyer relationships as they are usually short term and intended for micro level objectives at department levels.

Strategic alliances are holistic, publicly announced, large in size, has longevity and sustainability, has access to key markets and customer base and is sort of integration of firms.
