Baird and colleagues report on a study of 364 business units from the manufacturing and service sectors in Australia. Their study examined four core TQM practices: process management, the quality and reporting of data, supplier quality management and product and/or service design. Their findings suggest that respect for colleagues and teamwork are critical components for enhancing total quality management implementation
Q2. From your readings in this chapter, what other factors do you think are important for maintaining quality and increase productivity?
Other Factors important for maintaining quality and increase productivity
Correct and Strategic Work methods
Work method techniques increase productivity and quality by improving the ways in which the work is done, the human movements performed, the tools used, the workplace laid out, the materials handled and the machines employed(Arun, 2016). Work methods are improved by systematically analyzing present methods, eliminating unnecessary work and performing the necessary work more effectively with less effort, time and cost. When an organization invests in identifying quality, efficient and cost effective work methods, it is able to consistently produce high quality goods for a long time.
