LinkedIn is a social media platform that focuses on developing a professional network and also enables to build a portfolio so that individuals can find the appropriate job. A lot of fake profiles are being created in LinkedIn for various negative activities like scraping, spamming, abusing, fraud, phishing, etc., LinkedIn has reported that it has taken action on approximately 21.6 million fake accounts between the first half of 2019 at which 19.5 million accounts were identified and prevented at the registration stage itself. LinkedIn is successfully managing to prevent such fake accounts in order to maintain a safe and trusted professional community through the following strategies.

• Artificial intelligence and Machine learning: LinkedIn creates a cluster of accounts based on the shared attributes to identify the account clusters that exhibit abnormal data. Automated software and programming techniques are used to identify such accounts and to take necessary actions or facilitating the investigation team to get noticed to such accounts. This method is much effective as it stops fake accounts without letting it live.
• Taking actions with the help of the members who report the fake accounts: Though this method is not proactive, it helps to identify the fake accounts who bypass or escape the screening through artificial intelligence. Members of the LinkedIn report spam or abusive on the accounts that exhibit such suspicious activities which can be through their posts or individual messages. When such actions are reported, the investigation team of the LinkedIn reviews the reports and takes the necessary actions that start from temporarily blocking to prove the identity until permanently banning such accounts.
