Question 2:
Labeling theory in the world of cyber crime suggests that labeling particular groups as deviant may lead to an increase in the number of crimes committed. In essence, labeling fuels more crime as it encourages the perpetrator to continue. Do you think it is possible to reduce crime levels by reducing social shaming? Why or why not?
1. Labeling theory is an explanantion of how a person's behavior and perceptions depend on the way they are described or addressed in the society . This theory describes how people who are described as criminals or minoritities or any other characteristics that are negatively described changes their behavior or their attitude towards the society . They tend to become more stubborn or develop hatred towards others. The people who are negatively portrayed by these labels are the most effected by labeling according to the theory .
2. It is possible to reduce crimes by reducing social shaming but it takes a lot of patience and effort. The person can be made to understand the seriousness of what they did and how they can live in a society and make them develop good standards of livbing . For all these social shaming need not be done and hence a crime can be reduced without social shaming .
