Is it against human nature to work harder as a result of perceived positive inequity?
Will goal-setting theory work if the goals are fixed and only the means for achieving them are open for discussion?
Humans get easily disappointed and depressed if they did not achieve what they wanted. Due to perceived positive inequity they loose the interest to work any longer and hence they do not work hard or atleast try it again. They need a lot of motivation to encourage them in working harder and completing the work. When goals are fixed , if they are motivating enough for a person to try them they can be achieved by discussing various ways to achieve them The most important thing is motivation . When weset fixed goals we can concentrate on them and think of various ways to achieve them .Hence goal setting theory works even when the goals are fixed and we can work wonders with it.
