In your travels or readings, what branding strategies, activities or identifiers have major U.S. brands altered in other countries?
Coca-Cola Company is a major U.S brand which has altered the coca-cola taste in USA and India. This is because India is well known for the production of cane sugar and this was used as an ingredient in the soft drink. However, USA used High Fructose Corn Syrup instead of the cane sugar. Cane sugar tasting Coca-Cola soft drinks is a great hit in the Indian market. It is also a known fact that USA imports cane sugar based Coca-Cola drinks and prices it higher than the regular American coke. Additionally, the taste difference is based on the water used in the manufacture. Since water cannot be manufactured or imported, the taste of the drink differs based on the flavor, hardness of the water, Ph value of water, etc. Every water source is unique and the taste of the soft-drink is altered based on the quality of the water.
