(International Management) Synchronous manufacturing vs. JIT
How does the synchronous manufacturing process compare to the just-in-time manufacturing process? Which do you believe would be more effective for a global company?
Synchronous manufacturing vs. JIT
Synchronous manufacturing can be considered as a first in first out type of process where the processes are completed as per the requirement of the client. The company usually has enough material in stock to be able to create complete parts to any product that requires the product to be nearly completed as it leaves the facility. While just in time works on the principle that any process that does not provide value to the customer can and should be removed from the process altogether. While JIT has a high manufacturing velocity Synchronous manufacturing has a low manufacturing velocity.
In the case of a global organization, it is better to utilize JIT rather than Synchronous manufacturing for the reason that unprecedented events can cause the supply of certain raw materials to be limited and thus create a problem for the Synchronous manufacturing process.
