In your opinion, can a leader maintain a personal friendship with some member(s) of his/her work group or team without creating the perception of favoritism?
In my opinion, a leader can maintain a personal friendship with some member(s) of his/her work group or team without creating the perception of favoritism. But it can only be done if the leader remains fair in his decision, be it allocating the job or giving rewards for doing good job or even punishment for doing something wrong or inappropriate. If a leader will follow this, then the work group or team will be having trust in their leader and there would be no question of favoritism would arise.
