Can someone tell me what the term application is being used for? I need an example of an application. Here is the assignment... Build a cost model in Excel for outsourcing to the cloud for an application. You choose the application and explain the breakdown of the costs for outsourcing.

In software/IT industry , an application or an app is a type of software or product that allowes the user to perform a specific tasks. Application software is also called end-user programs as this is the programs which are visible to end users. An application program is a program designed to perform a specific function directly for the users or in some cases for another application program also/

Simple example of applications are Word processors, web browser you are using, E-mail app, drawing tools, paint, media player etc. These application can be accessed through mobile or desktop or both.

So your assignment is asking you to select one application that you want to create such as messaging application, media player and outsource to the cloud.
