How should we regulate emerging market arrangements, such as pay-for-performance initiatives, and emerging health care providers, such as specialty hospitals?

The regulations are very necessary to be in place and it can be done as:

• A set of strict rules and regulations should be there documented following which the emerging health care providers should function.
• Patient grievances cell should be there to cater to any injustice.
• Pay for performance initiates should be based on 3 other factors apart from performance i.e. attitude, skill and behavior which will ensure that unbiased review is done and objectivity is attained i.e. transparency is achieved.
• Also regular audits should be conducted by an external party.
• Other developed nations can also be benchmarked for the same i.e. whatever the regulations they have set to ensure smooth conduct can be replicated by doing some minor changes.
